Principal Designer

We provide expert Principal Designer services to plan and manage health and safety during the pre-construction phase under CDM 2015. We coordinate the design team, focus on significant and foreseeable risks, and integrate the principles of prevention so your project is safer and compliant. Key services include: PCI collation, design risk reviews, coordination with the Principal Contractor, and Health and Safety File management.

• CDM Leadership and Coordination: We provide leadership during pre-construction with clear roles, meetings, and risk-led decision-making.
• Pre-Construction Information (PCI): We collate and promptly distribute PCI to designers and contractors.
• Design Risk Reviews: We drive the elimination or control of risks as far as is reasonably practicable, supported by a live risk register.
• HSE Notification (F10): We handle notifications where required and provide advice on dutyholder appointments.
• Coordination with the Principal Contractor: We review impacts on the Construction Phase Plan when design changes affect site safety.
• Competence Checks: We check the competence of designers and key suppliers, providing practical advice on any gaps.
• Health and Safety File Management: We set up and manage the Health and Safety File through to handover.
• Alignment with the Building Safety Act: We ensure your project aligns with the Building Safety Act where relevant, including competence expectations for dutyholders under BS 8670, PAS 8671, and PAS 8672.
