M6 Toll Upgrade

Live motorway works demand precise planning. We supported SICE UK and Midland Expressway Ltd with CDM compliance to keep the upgrade safe and on schedule.

Project Summary

Overview

Our team, formerly part of Baily Garner (Health & Safety), supported SICE UK with CDM Advisor services during the system upgrade works on the M6 Toll. The project involved the installation of new roadside and in-road vehicle detection infrastructure, enabling more accurate distance-based charging across the motorway.

We helped manage the transition from the enabling works contractor to SICE as Principal Contractor. This included reviewing and updating the Construction Phase Plan and supporting the development of site-specific design risk assessments. Each location presented its own challenges, from overbridges to gantries and active traffic lanes.

Throughout the programme, we undertook daytime and night-time inspections to monitor site safety and advise on best practice. These visits helped identify practical risks and shaped the implementation of improved on-site processes.

We continue to support the collation of the Health and Safety File. This has been a high-risk, multi-site infrastructure project where collaboration and early planning were key to its safe and efficient delivery.
