Stress is a widespread issue in the workplace, which, alongside anxiety and depression, contributes to around half of all cases of work-related ill health.

Employees may experience stress for various reasons, such as excessive workloads, limited control over their tasks, insufficient support, difficult workplace relationships, or changes in their role or the organisation. Employers are legally required to protect staff from work-related stress by carrying out a risk assessment and taking appropriate action.

To help employers meet these obligations, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has introduced a free online learning module focused on managing stress in the workplace.

The eLearning module is part of the HSE’s broader Working Minds campaign and provides information on workplace stress, how to manage it, and the benefits of effective stress management. The module is designed to be interactive, combining animations with questions to enhance learning, and is available for free on the Working Minds website.
