Who is this course designed for?

This is an in house course that meets legal requirements that operators, and those in charge of operators, of Abrasive Wheels are properly trained.

This is a half day course for people who have contact with abrasive wheels or anybody responsible for those who do.

This course requires the relevant abrasive wheel and changing tools / discs to be provided.

The course is designed to raise awareness of the dangers of using abrasives and promote good practice in the workplace


About the course

  • Duration: Half Day
  • Format: Face-to-Face

  • Refresher training: Recommended every 3 years


What is covered?

  • Hazards associated with the use of abrasive wheels
  • Types and design of wheels (including specification, to avoid incorrect selection)
  • Inspection, testing and storage (including damaged/fault wheel checks and ring test)
  • Mounting of wheels (including a practical 'verification of competence' test, ensuring safe mounting procedures are followed and tool care is adhered)
  • Ensuring a safe working environment
  • PPE required
  • Safe use of abrasive wheels
  • A test at the end of the course to ensure the participant has understood the content which includes a practical change of the wheel.
