The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) recently published their latest annual report.
The report shows the number of fatal work related injuries in Northern Ireland fell from 16 to 11 in 2017/18 a drop of 31%, the largest number of fatalities was in the agricultural sector with 7 deaths. The number of major injuries increased by 27% to 453, all reportable injuries were up by 13% to 1898.
In the period HSENI inspectors carried out 6,233 inspections and served 216 formal enforcement notices. They also completed seven successful prosecutions, which saw fines totalling £173,750.
