Who has published the guidance?

Updated MOT Inspection manuals for Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) has been published by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

The manuals provide detailed procedures and standards for the examination and maintenance of HGVs and PSVs. They focus on:

What has been updated?

Effective from 1st April 2025, updates to inspection guidance include the size and type of tyres, a new list of HGVs exempted from sideguards, radar devices fitted in sideguards, fuel tanks and systems, brakes, doors, monitors for indirect vision devices, etc.
